Bermuda Lemon Recipes A Refreshing Taste



Bermuda lemon recipes are a great way to incorporate flavour into any dessert. Bermuda lemons are smaller than other species but they are also sweeter. Like all citrus fruits, lemons provide great health benefits to go along with it's tart but refreshing taste. Incorporate this wonderful fruit into your very own delicious cakes, pies or tart receipes. It can even garnish your favourite desserts as a lemon sauce.

Lemon Sauce:

  • Grated rinds of 5 Bermuda lemons
  • 1 cup of margarine
  • 10 eggs
  • 4 cups of sugar
  • 1½ ltrs lemon juice

Method:

Combine the margarine, eggs, sugar and lemon rinds in a double boiler. Next heat mixture while stirring constantly until the margaine is melted. Then add the lemon juice and cook until the mixture thickens. Stir constantly. Do not boil. Once the mixture has thickened pour into hot sterilized jars and seal. Store in a cool place.


Bermuda Lemon Nut Bread

  • 1 grated Bermuda Lemon rind
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • ¼ cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1½ cup of flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts

Bermuda Lemon Glaze

  • ½ cup of sugar
  • 1 Bermuda Lemon juice
  • Add together and dissolve

Method:

Cream shortening and sugar together until light. Add 1 egg yolk at a time beating well after each. Beat egg whites until stiff then fold into mixture. Mix ingredients then add to mixture. Besure that the mixture is mixed very well. Stir in milk and nuts. Let stand for 20 minutes. Pour batter into a loaf pan. Bake at 350 fereinheit for 45 mins. Remove from the oven and pour glaze over each loaf.
