Woodys Sports Bar is located in Sandy’s parish. Keep driving beyond Somerset village, over the bridge and on your right you will begin to see Woody’s Sports Bar.
It is quite a picturesque scene as its set next to a little inlet scattered with boats and an awesome view of the Great Sound. From the outside it may not look like much, or even a place you would want to stop, but it serves up savoury traditional local cuisine.
This spot is frequented by locals daily but it is not uncommon to see guests to the island stop in for a bite to eat and a drink. However, don’t let that deter you, as you will miss out on culinary delights that are mouth watering.
The restaurant of Woodys is located on the backside of the building. Just through the sliding doors, you will walk into a quaint patio complete with wicker furniture lounging chairs and picnic benches on the lawn. This garden style dining experience is complete with friendly staff.
Your menu is written on a chalkboard. There are flat screen televisions strategically placed and a full service bar. The restaurant serves fresh local lobsters, when in season, traditional Bermudian shark hash when the sharks are biting, fall off the bone tender oxtails, spicy jerk chicken, curry chicken, scalloped potatoes, fresh local Wahoo, Rockfish, Tuna or Mahi-Mahi, peas n rice, fish chowder, pumpkin rice, fish sandwiches and burgers. The portions are quite filling.
Woodys Sports Bar is one of the least expensive restaurants in Bermuda. It is well worth the long drive or ride out there!
